Ice Cream Cone Quilt Release!
This quilt has been a long time in the making! It was one of the first quilts I designed in EQ earlier this year, and has been waiting patiently to be released into the world. Welcome to Ice Cream Cone Quilt!
This quilt is so versatile, and so deceptively simple! It mashes two basic quilting motifs- economy blocks and drunkard’s path blocks- into one simple design. I made two (of many versions floating around in my head begging to be let out!) and I love how the simple, over-sized blocks let fabric choice and quilting design totally shape the finished quilt. The first on on the right used Michael Miller Cotton Couture, which is the most buttery-soft solid out there. I did organic curves to flatten the design, and it really lets the 3D illusion pop out. The one on the left scratched my fall quilt itch, and used three different metallic Essex linen fabrics. With the angular quilting and sparkly jewel tones, I think it looks very gemstone-y and it looked so good among the trees up north.
I was lucky enough to have a killer set of a testers jump at making this quilt, and I love how well they demonstrated the versatility of this design! Most went with fabulous combinations of solids, but a few worked prints in and I love that the design still works!
Now that you’re convinced you can make a quilt using this pattern for every room in your house, here’s where you can buy it!
Plus, it’s on sale until Wednesday for $10, so catch it early and save a couple bucks! If you make it, definitely tag me @khquilts, and use the hashtag #icecreamconequilt so I can see what you make!
