Riptide

Riptide

You do when they look like this.

I just love, love, love how it turned out! The yarn is Cascade Eco+ in lichen, and the depth from the heathered browns and green is SO. GOOD. As with all Brooklyn Tweed (this one is Riptide, but the wonderful and genius Norah Gaughan) patterns, it fits perfectly. The cable decreases (4st at a time!) look so great against the straight and sharp raglan details, and the brioche ribbing is perfect. I do have a couple minor issues- I would have made the sleeves just a hair longer, and I think I would drop a needle size or two on the collar- the brioche stitch is drapey and thick, but almost a little too drapey, and it's hard to get it to stand up nice (I'm holding it up in the left picture above). The only other thing I would change is I would lengthen the body by an inch or two and subtract that from the length of the armscye. It doesn't bother me that much, but when wearing it, I think I just wish that the armpits were just a little tighter.

It's just about perfectly knit (if I say so myself), so I'm in a never-ending debate with myself over whether I want to submit it to the State Fair this year, or lug it with me to Iceland...
